June 4, 2016 | Leiper’s Fork, TN
Welcome to the 2016 Hillbilly Half Marathon, formerly known as the Franklin Half Marathon. This year will be better than ever as we embrace the “hillbilly.” 2016 is our fourth year running out in Leiper’s Fork, through the pristine, rolling hills of Williamson County, home to country music stars, movie stars, A-listers and moonshining hillbillies. It is an eclectic mix of colorful people and you will quickly see why.
This race has been recognized as one of the most difficult, yet scenic half marathons in the southeast. The heat, humidity and hills will challenge all athletes, but in the end, you will be proud of your accomplishment, as you bite into a fresh Georgia peach from The Peach Truck Nashville. There will be motivation and possibly some heckling along the course, but it is all in good fun.
You should not run this race if you are:
- Easily offended
- Scared of banjos
